I better put in some of my story before I get to far removed.
When we received the referral of our daughters it was one of the greatest moments of my life. I felt the love of God like never before. My solo trip to be with them in Ethiopia was an excellent time to reflect and pray. I had a grace that I can't find the words to describe. Abiding in Christ started to become reality to me. I had a confidence that comes from the conviction and grace of walking into something that was God's directive.
As I flew into Addis I started to wonder if a driver would be there to pick me up. I left ASheville in such a hurry after we found out about Konjit that we still hadn't been able to secure a place to stay or a driver. We flew in late and then it took another hour to get through customs. I was tired and full of emotions. It was 12:30 AM when I got to the guest house. I had not slept a wink on the way over so it was not hard to fall asleep that first night. I did some journaling and praying and went to sleep with great expectation and excitement.
When I woke up in the morning I felt the peace that passes understanding. The presence of Jesus was in the room. I was moved into a Spirit of prayer and supplication. I knew that I was surrounded by angels and had the resources of heaven behind me. I had a precious baby to visit. This was God's child not mine. He knew her before I did.
As I entered the hospital I could feel all the eyes on me. I was a spectacle in an Ethiopian hospital. I had the feeling that they did not expect to see me in this venue. I was welcomed with smiles and the greeting, "salaam".
As I entered the room to look at and hold my daughter for the first time faith rose up in me in a way that I knew this meeting was blessed. I looked upon Konjit and felt the love of Jesus for this special Princess. It was time to release that blessing and favor of the Lord. As I sang and prayed her gaunt look changed. When I first arrived she looked pail and lifeless but after praying and singing for an hour or so she began to coo at me. I knew in that moment that the balance had been turned. The enemy would not take this precious life.
To be continued...
