Another great part of our adoption story

Our girls had a very special woman that first took care of them when they were brought to the orphanage (at 4 days old). This precious woman, Amy (not her real name) kept the girls in her home for the first 3 days and nights so that she could monitor them and give 24 hr care. They were so brand-new to this world and so fragile! Amy immediately recognized the specialness of these beautiful babies. After we were told about the girls and had accepted their referral, our case manager wrote to Amy to let her know part of our side of the story and how we had been led to these twins by God. Amy wrote back a beautiful letter about how thankful she was for God's provision for these girls as she knew they were very special and had a great calling on their lives. She also shared in the letter the great love she witnessed from the girls' father for them.

A week after we found out about the girls i was sharing about them in my bible study. One of the women, Cathi (who had been a missionary in Ethiopia several years before) asked in what town the girls had been brought. I told her Soddo. Cathi told me she had a good friend that lived in Soddo and worked in an orphanage there. I told her about Amy, the woman who had cared so lovingly and carefully for our girls. Cathi said, "that's my good friend!" After the class she came up to me and said that she had seen a picture of the girls just a few days after they were brought to the orphanage. Amy had written to her with a picture of the girls. She told Cathi about the love of their father and also exclaimed, "aren't they beautiful!?!" Cathi, this friend in my bible study, had actually seen a picture of my girls before we had! I was almost beside myself!! how amazing God works! And what a small world we live in.

The girls had to be moved from the orphanage in Soddo to the CWA "foster home" in Addis Ababa so that the adoption proceedings could continue. Amy and her family brought the girls to the foster home a couple of weeks later. They had gotten very close to the girls in the couple of weeks they had been growing and thriving in the Soddo orphanage with them. I was told they loved on the girls a lot before handing them over to the nannies at the foster home. The picture above was taken by Amy when she dropped them off at the CWA home in Addis. They were about 4 weeks old and about 6 pounds. The Lord Jesus provided for and walked with our girls every step of the way.
